In August 2013, we’ll
depart on our bikes from the Riverside Pub by Vauxhall Bridge (where this challenge was drunkenly conceived) and cycle 700
miles to Chamonix.
When we arrive in
Chamonix, and after a few days technical training and smaller summits, we’ll climb Mt Blanc.
And when we reach the
4,800m peak with our 20kg+ wings, we’ll tandem paraglide from the top.
Having never cycled any serious distance, never paraglided
and never used crampons or ice axes, this is an ambitious challenge. But we are
up to it. And we would love you to help us support two fantastic charities.
...............
We hope to complete the challenge in three weeks. The cycle
will take 8-10 days – but for the other parts of the challenge we will be largely
at the mercy of weather conditions. When we arrive in Chamonix, we’ll spend a
few days acclimatising and training with crampons and ice axes, before waiting
for conditions suitable enough to climb. Conditions have to be good to summit,
and excellent to consider paragliding. We’ve given ourselves two weeks to
maximise our chances - so bring it on!
